After a season of walking trails that didn't make the cut, the week has finally taken shape. The itinerary is set.
There's a particular satisfaction in the moment a plan stops being a pile of possibilities and becomes a single, confident line through the week. After months of scouting, the We Wander France walking week is set, and it was built around one stubborn idea: that the pleasure is in the discovery, not the checklist.
Built for discovery, not box-ticking
It would have been easy to cram more in. There is always one more village, one more viewpoint, one more thing you could technically fit before dinner. But a week spent racing between sights is a week you don't actually remember. So the itinerary leaves room, room to linger over lunch, to wander a market without a clock, to take the slower path because the light is good.
A week you remember is built from moments, not mileage.
One home, seven days
The whole week is anchored to a single restored stone home near Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne. You unpack once. No buses, no hotel-hopping, no living out of a suitcase that never gets fully opened. Each day you head out to a different corner of the Corrèze, the Lot and the Dordogne, and each evening you come back to the same comfortable base. You can see the house on the accommodations page.
The shape of the week
Here's the rhythm, kept deliberately varied so no two days feel the same:
- Day 1Arrival and a gentle welcome to the Dordogne countryside.
- Day 2River walks and your first French village.
- Day 3Goat cheese, clifftop views and storied stones.
- Day 4Red-stone villages and countryside wanders.
- Day 5The signature walk: hilltops, valleys and waterfalls.
- Day 6Market day and Dordogne river valley wonders.
- Day 7Farewell and departure.
The full day-by-day, with walking distances and what's included, lives on the itinerary page.
Small group, private rooms
The week is kept to a small group of six to eight, with a private room for every traveler and no single supplement, which makes it an easy yes for solo women travelers. If a week like this is calling to you, the next retreat runs October 12 to 18, 2026, and you can request your spot now.
