Each We Wander France retreat offers a thoughtfully balanced blend of activity, discovery, and rest. While our specific plans may vary slightly from tour to tour, this sample itinerary offers a glimpse into what your week might look like. We intentionally keep details flexible — a full itinerary is available upon request.

Sample Daily Overview
  • Day 1: Meet at Brive-la-Gaillarde train station at noon. Travel together to our private lodging. Settle in, get to know your fellow travelers, and visit the nearby town of Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne. Enjoy an evening gathering with wine and local cheese.
  • Day 2: Morning hike into the countryside above Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne with views of the town below. Lunch included in town. Afternoon visit to a neighboring village. Evening at leisure with dinner on your own at the lodging.
  • Day 3: Day trip to Rocamadour — a stunning cliffside destination. Stroll through ancient paths, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, and visit a traditional goat farm that produces Rocamadour cheese. Dinner on your own.
  • Day 4: Hike to the storybook village of Collonges-la-Rouge. Lunch included in town and free time to explore. Dinner on your own.
  • Day 5: Spectacular hiking day to Autoire. Enjoy a countryside walk with scenic highlights and lunch in town. Dinner on your own.
  • Day 6: A full day trip to Sarlat-la-Canéda. Wander the lively streets and markets, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, and take a countryside drive through the Dordogne River Valley. This is one of our favorite days. Dinner on your own.
  • Day 7: Farewell breakfast and return transfer to Brive-la-Gaillarde train station.

Distances: Hikes range from 3 to 7 miles on selected days. We hike at a moderate pace with time for rest, photos, and discovery.
